It’s the time of the year again where people get to enjoy long breaks from work and from school. With the holidays just around the corner and parties starting to take the bulk of your to do list, it could also be that time of year where your diet could be put in peril.
Imagine this: you have worked hard all season long to cut your weight down. You have been exercising a lot, gulping supplements after supplements, carefully choosing what you eat and doing almost every punishment your body can take just to look good and be happy with your physique. And then here comes that one solitary month where the temptation to ease on your diet as well as reduce your training and relax your body is on its all time high.
I am sure you are not willing to allow yourself to gain back all the weight you lose, and I’m pretty sure you do not want to miss out on the holiday treats either. So what do you need to do?
Most people splurge during the holidays and condole themselves by thinking that everything would be alright since this is just temporary and that they will make up for lost time and get back to their diets and train hard again after the holidays. While this could potentially work, it could have more cons than pros in the long run.
Catching and up and doubling your effort could add too much stress to your body. And since these people put their fate on what they can do in the future, unforeseen circumstances could further delay their plans and it could mean longer wait to get back on dieting, which is clearly a disadvantage.
Follow these tips if you want to fully enjoy the holidays without sacrificing your weight:
Eat and Drink Moderately
Yes you can eat, and yes you can even drink. Consider this as a reward for all the hard work and effort you have made throughout the year. But be cautious on the amount of food and drinks that you consume. Remember parties are meant to see old friends and have fun with their company; it is not all about food. So talk more eat less.
Mild Exercises
Since it’s the holidays, nothing beats waking up late in the morning. If you are really not in the mood to do your routine workout activities, find time to workout mildly. Just a quick run outdoors or stationary biking perhaps. Do not stop working out completely. By doing these cardio exercises alone, you are keeping your body tweaked for optimum performance; continuously energizing it to somehow burn extra calories rather than just letting all the calories pile up.
Water Therapy
Whatever you do, do not miss out on the opportunity to drink water. All the extra eating and drinking will put a toll on your diet. Keeping your water intake high will help flush out all the accumulated toxins in your body as well as keep your body nourished and cleansed.
Have Fun!
Since it’s the holidays, don’t forget to have fun with all the families and friends around you. By spending quality time with people you love and sharing the thought and essence of the holidays, you will have ample memories to live by for next year keeping you motivated at work and in life in general.
You do not have to feel bad and sulk during the holidays for fear that your might jeopardize your diet. If you can have fun and still do your routine workout then good for you. If not, try not to be so indulgent during the holidays, be sure to sweat out a little everyday and have fun. This only happen once a year.
