Eating takes up a lot of time from our daily life. Maybe too much. Whether we are out and about, bored or happy, there is always food around to go with it. But how many times are we actually aware of WHAT we put in our mouths? And what’s the deal with organic food?
Organic food does not contain dyes, chemicals and additives. It is made entirely of natural products with no added chemical fertilizers.
In the early ‘80’s scientists have decided that organic food cannot be given a firm definition. However there is still hope, for in the late ‘90’s, it has been defined as 100% natural products, rich in nutrients. There is still a lot of controversy on whether the consumption of organic foods can treat breast cancer or Alzheimer.
But it is a fact that organic food cleanses our body, bringing a high intake of vitamin C, magnesium and calcium. With these minerals and vitamins on our side, our immune system becomes stronger and more capable of fighting a number of chronic diseases and we are less exposed to toxins and chemicals.
Organic foods are environmental friendly, for they reduce the degree of pollution. Synthetic factors do not influence the land and when it comes to crops, the seeds are organically grown.
The term of “organic food” refers to healthy ways of growing food products. It applies to both foods of animal origin as to those resulting from processed crops.
American nutritionists have confirmed than the antioxidants found in organic foods reduce the risks of breast cancer.
It has been shown that organic food has positive impact on our face complexion (making it brighter and giving it a healthy look, reducing wrinkles). Our hairs are stronger and thicker. Last but definitely not least, our organism gains more strength when it has to deal with physical effort or diseases such as flu or cold.
Organic food is generally more expensive (due to low production), but its health aspects cannot be overlooked.
Tests have shown that the taste of organic foods is superior to non organic foods.
Proteins, though reduced in number in comparison to chemically treated products, are of better quality. This is explained by the fact that chemical fertilizers create nitrogen which is essential for the plant to create proteins.
Today it is very in to be ecologically friendly. We have eco friendly cars, eco friendly foods, clothing, cosmetics and so on. The sale of organic foods in US alone has reached almost 25 billion in 2009. Due to the high awareness of organic food, in addition to meat, vegetables, fruits, eggs and dairy products, there is a broad diversity of soups, tea, coffee, chocolate, beer and even frozen meals that are now available in the organic form.
Health cannot be bought, but foods that sustain good health, can.
